I love all the year-in-review specials that happen at the end of December. I seem to forget so quickly many of the major events and significant things that happened to changed the world and mold my life. Although 2017 had its major ups and downs, I have to say that my year was hugely significant and special.

I started HuckleBee Photography on April 2 with my heart in my throat. Becoming a family and newborn photographer in Medicine Hat was an idea I toyed with for quite some time before working up the nerve to actually put myself out there. I decided self doubt wasn't a good enough reason to not follow my heart. I knew that if I didn't try, I'd live with regret and disappointment in myself.

One of my favourite quotes of all time is from Wayne Dyer who said, "Don't die with your music still in you." These images are my music. They are my offering. They are my purpose. When I lie in bed and think about my day and how it was spent, these are the things I can now say:

What I did today was important.

What I did today mattered.

What I did today will last.

What I did today made me feel happy.

What I did today brought others joy.

My heartfelt thanks to all the families who trusted me to capture their love and joy this year. I'm grateful beyond words. I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store!

Thanks for being here with me.

Taneill.

I’m taking part in a blog circle with some photographer friends of mine. We’re linking to each other’s posts, so you can check out what they’re up to. This month, I’m linking to my friend Ashley McMath, who shoots Family Lifestyle Photography in Victoria, BC. She completed a 365 project in 2017 which is a huge undertaking and I'm so proud of her for finishing it!
